Tolethorpe Youth Drama was established by the Stamford Shakespeare Company in September 2001 under the direction of Carol King to provide professional yet affordable tuition in the Performing Arts for local young people between the ages of eight and eighteen years.

Situated in the historic hall, Tolethorpe Youth Drama has access to all the resources of the Stamford Shakespeare Company and benefits from its association with this long established and nationally renowned open air theatre. TYD is a unique in that it is a part of a working theatre and the students are exposed to a stimulating and supportive environment throughout their training.

The courses are workshop-based, each having particular emphasis, specific drama objectives and a secure framework for learning.
